Nintendo is Insane - Switch Price Hike!
8Nintendo has gone crazy by raising the price of the original Nintendo Switch 8 years after its launch, causing much controversy among fans! let's discuss this insane price hike in this reaction video!!
Its easy to think that the higher ups at Nintendo have lost their minds. they have raised the Base Nintendo Switch price from 300 to 339 dollars, the Nintendo Switch Lite to 230, and the Switch OLED to 399. The Oled model is now only 50 bucks less expensive than the new Nintendo Switch 2. this is crazy. the gap in price these two generations of gaming devices is too small. it makes the Switch 1 not be an affordable option for gamers and for casual consumers. And it could lead to more confusion as more people know are likely to think that Switch 2 is just more powerful version of Switch 1 than a successor and brand new device.
I now think that the first Nintendo Switch will not have sales legs. It wont sell huge numbers and might need to be discontinued earlier than Nintendo was hoping and than what we were expecting. At this high price it makes no sense for consumers to buy a Switch 1 so late now and with the Switch 2 being so close in price.
Nintendo has been very anti-consumer lately. They are now selling some games at 80 dollars like Mario Kart World, and they sold the tech demo "Nintendo Switch 2 Welcome Tour" for 10 dollars instead of giving it for free. And now this price increase for Switch 1. they should have focused on keeping Switch 1 affordable so it could sell as much as possible. because the more Switches and Switch 2's they sell the more software and subscription services (like NSO or Nintendo Switch Online) they can sell. its greedy and short sighted to seek huge profit margins on Nintendo Switch 1 sales instead of trying to get more units in people's hands so they can sell more videogames like Super Mario, legend of Zelda, Metroid, Donkey Kong, Kirby, Smash Bros, Mario Kart and Pokemon games to consumers. When we have a Nintendo Controversy and they are anti consumer we fans need to speak our minds!
