Didn't bother learning any of the moves. Never really liked Mortal Kombat. But it has Superman, so I am required by law to play it at least once. Anyway, I just mash buttons. It's Superman. It's not like he needs to try hard to kick ass. If anything, a game featuring Superman should have mechanics where you push buttons to prevent him from kicking ass and destroying stuff accidentally.

Except it turns out whoever made this game didn't know Superman. Maybe they just received a picture of Superman and were asked to make a game around the guy in the picture. That would explain why Superman is fighting for his life against a ninja, as opposed to punching that ninja hard enough to give the entire country of Japan a giant black eye.
