MTG 8th edition released
4In 2011, when the Modern format was created, Eighth Edition was chosen as the oldest set to be included largely because of these design changes and how it marked the “modern” era of magic. The fact that 8th edition included one card from previous releases and included 12 cards chosen by players meant that it had an enormous impact on the future of the game even though the mechanics and rules remained mostly unchanged.
