Between 2003 and 2008 the FBI attributed eco-terrorists to $200 million in property damage and over 1000 crimes. Though very few people were injured in these attacks in 2005 Eco-extremism was considered by the FBI to be the biggest domestic terrorist threat due to their organization and growing confidence and calls from within the group to take more drastic action.

After a different incident in 1998 put the ELF on the FBI’s radar the Bureau infiltrated the organization and by 2006 they had arrested and charged over 30 people in connection with the property damage.

This seems to have disrupted the organization, though less frequent and slightly less destructive incidents associated with Eco-extremism continue to this day.
