Multiplayer and expansions still coming to Cyberpunk 2077?
0Cyberpunk 2077 may still be planning to release multiplayer and expansions, according to a datamine of the latest patch.
According to an analysis of the update’s game files by content creator Tyler McVicker, patch 1.3 – which was released last week – has made alterations to Cyberpunk and its engine.
And a datamine of the popular title’s executable has found new references to expansions and multiplayer.
It’s claimed that at least two expansions are listed in Cyberpunk 2077’s files, and build states for “multiplayer gyms” and various tests, along with references to “old” multiplayer modes could be potentially point to the original plans for a Cyberpunk online game.
President and joint CEO Adam Kiciński announced that CD Projekt “reconsidered” plans for a standalone Cyberpunk online game as part of the company’s strategy update published that was in March.
During a video announcing the cancellation of its online plans, Kiciński said: “Previously we hinted that our next triple-A would be a multiplayer Cyberpunk game, but we have decided to reconsider this now.
“Given our new more systematic and agile approach, instead of primarily focusing on one big online experience or game, we are focusing on bringing online into all of our franchises one day.”
