Microsoft has announced that Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One are to get cloud gaming this Christmas.

The company revealed the news that Xbox Game Pass Ultimate members will get access to over 100 games from the cloud on the consoles, during its Gamescom 2021 Xbox stream.

In an Xbox Wire expanding on the news, Jake Rosenberg, Senior Program Manager at Xbox said: “It’s a way for console gamers to play some of their favorite games as quickly as possible, jump into games with friends more easily, and try out Xbox Game Pass titles before installing them.”

The feature will give players access to over 100 games in the Xbox Game Pass library without having to install them on the console.

It was also revealed that the new feature will mean gamers will be able to play “Gen 9-only Xbox games like Microsoft Flight Simulator and The Medium on your Xbox One via the cloud”.

Cloud gaming on Xbox consoles will support up to 1080p and 60fps “to ensure the highest quality experience across the broadest set of devices”, which is the same performance Xbox Cloud Gaming offers across PCs, phones and tablets.
