‘New World’ is getting an open beta ahead of its September 28 release, Amazon Games has announced.

The news was revealed during Gamescom’s Opening Night Live 2021, which showed off a new trailer for the upcoming MMO game and revealed that an open beta would occur from September 9 to September 12.

Following the announcement, Amazon Games took to the ‘New World’ website to offer more details on the upcoming beta.

They shared that following the closed beta – which took place July 20 to August 2 – they still have some work to do on the game before its release and will be going into open beta for one last public test.

They wrote: “We still have some work to do before releasing New World on September 28, and the Closed Beta has helped immeasurably by testing our servers, helping us find bugs, providing us with a ton of constructive feedback, and granting many more key learnings to help our team prepare and adjust.
“During Closed Beta, we ran into both server issues and over-population resulting in queue times, preventing some players from being able to experience the danger and beauty found in Aeternum. To ensure that everyone has a chance to experience New World ahead of our September 28 launch, we’re excited to announce that we will be holding an Open Beta test.”

It was also revealed that the open beta is an “important test” for their server infrastructure and will feature a higher server capacity than the closed beta, though it will not represent the full server capacity available at launch.
