This is one of the few games I have in my collection I know very little about. Another is called "Totally Rad", which I can try sometime if anyone is interested. As for this game, it's like if Super Pitfall on N.E.S. was good, and I feel like there was a fair bit of inspiration from this game to make Spelunker.
