My Favourite Lucio Fulci Cameo (Contraband)
1Italian maestro director Lucio Fulci, like acclaimed director Alfred Hitchcock was known for popping up from time to time in small roles in his films usually in authority roles. He would go on to fully star in the black, self referential horror comedy The Cat In The Brain during the latter stages of his film career, which I haven't seen yet.
Some of his cameos range to me from good to decent; however my overall favourite cameo is the one where he plays an Italian mobster in his only entry to the Italian poliziotteschi genre Contraband. It's a shame that Contraband is his only crime film because it's an amazingly shot, and complete gore fest of a film, which got it in hot water, or shall I say, it got the BBFC burnt off their bunsen burners. It makes the Godfather look like a Muppet movie. #LucioFulci #Contraband1980
