My Own Custom Dimension! - Talon's Oasis - Ep 63
0Custom dimensions are fun! Today I try my hand at making a custom dimension/biome as well as modifying some of the aspects of it. I also try and build one from the ground up so that it actually has features, creatures, and structures. It was a super fun episode to try, and I had a blast making it!
Extra Bits:
- So I already figured out the spawn problem. Turns out there were a few issues. So chickens can only spawn on grass (there wasn't any), piglins can only spawn in a low light level (I had an ambient light of 10 for the whole dimension, so no piglins), and the striders were spawning in strange ways and dying to lava, which I fixed with some setting somehow, hahaha. 😅
- I've also since figured out how to make the fungus trees sparser (made a custom feature to do it), and made another custom feature to add patches of grass to the crimson nylium. Overall makes it look a lot better. And I used some more features to fix the dirt and stone patches on the unfinished mountain biome! 😁
- For anyone curious about the technical way I got the structures to work, it was by making a custom structure feature JSON file that linked to the template pool, which I placed in the starts list inside the biome JSON file. Sounds complicated, but it's huge to be able to have the randomized jigsaw structures be able to spawn naturally. 😎
