Review for Fahrenheit / Indigo Prophecy (2005)

Fahrenheit / Indigo Prophecy (2005) is a paranormal cop thriller all about three characters trying to investigate a series of bizarre murder cases. What’s most intriguing here is that, while two of the characters you play are seasoned police officers, the third is actually the killer - which makes the game even more tense as you clean up evidence whilst also trying to uncover clues to the killer’s identity.

As a port of a 2005 classic Fahrenheit / Indigo Prophecy utilises the right analogue stick to help you interact with the environment and make split second dialogue choices, whilst the left analogue stick is used for movement. These interactions can help raise or lowers the games stress meter, which if it drops too far will result in a game over.

Often the screen will be split into two sections as key points in the game, letting you know what other characters are doing, or actions in the world around you - though typically this just further outlines your impending doom or demise.

Infuriatingly there is a load of quick time events for the more action oriented sections of the story, whilst these can be fun at first they quickly drag on and can easily lead to another game over. These also rely on fast reflexes to repeat the prompts on the screen and you only have a very narrow window to repeat these which can distract from the story, also some feel to be several minutes long and if you fail them then you could have to face the same prompts a few times before passing the sequence.

Fahrenheit / Indigo Prophecy starts off well but soon switches from a cop drama to a rushed end of the world scenario, which really doesn’t fit in with the previous pacing of the game, whilst this isn’t enough for me to dissuade you from the game it definitely worth noting.

If you have played Fahrenheit / Indigo Prophecy then I would love to hear your comments / suggestions in the comment section below, and if you enjoyed this review then please don’t hesitate to leave a like, comment, share and subscribe.
