On closer inspection that switch under the arrow key may have been forcefully pushed into the whole, because the bottom is bent inwards ... then probably after assembly they pressed the key, and the middle part came out, because it was already broken. Not a big problem, I wouldn't send the keyboard back for such minor issues, but I still wasted about 2 hours of my time, when I should have gotten a brand new, perfectly working keyboard ... it was a manufacturer sealed box after all...
In the end I just replaced the switch with the one from the Pause key, I almost never use it anyways.
