Mystic Bounds (Extreme Demon) by gmdmann || Geometry Dash
= DESCRIPTION =
I have no words. The legend has done it again. Mystic Bounds honestly is one of the greatest levels ever created in GD, and is truly one of a kind. It was an absolute honor and incredible joy to playtest this level (massive props to @gmdman for allowing me to help out, it was one of the coolest experiences ever, and I genuinely hope we get to work together again! You can also see my name in the credits at the end of the level, really quite cool!). Mystic Bounds is a 5 minute long XXL Extreme Demon consisting of many stellar effects, so many colors, and a huge array of unique designs, patterns, and movements. The extremely cool visuals paired with the INCREDIBLE gameplay experience has given me one of the most memorable and super fun experiences I’ve ever had in this game. I’m always being continually surprised by new levels all the time (levels are genuinely so impressive these days) but this one just elevated everything to a whole new level for me. Everything about it screams personality and passion, and I can’t be more proud to have helped with the experience.
Mystic Bounds took me about 5 days of playtime to actually beat the level, in about 400-500 attempts. The playtesters and I all sort of agreed that it was hard to decide whether or not it should be an Insane or Extreme demon, but personally after seeing other people’s opinions, I’m starting to lean towards Extreme. I felt that this was about as hard as Acu for me, especially due to the length. I’m not very good with XXL levels, but the consistent nature and very intuitive click-sync based gameplay (that the legend gmdmann always makes) helped so much in making my experience more enjoyable. The only thing I noticed (and you may notice too through listening and watching the video) was that slight lag due to me playing in Full Detail affected the sync a bit (I don’t have MegaHack so I can’t autocorrect the sync). For that I just paused and played the level at 2-3 specific points: before the first drop, and before the second drop. Doing that (+ an offset of 100) helped me stay as synced as possible, which I think was the most difficult part of the level. Nonetheless, this is an experience I will never forget, and I’m sure I’ll be back to rebeat it for fun in the future!!
Shoutouts to the incredible playtesting team behind Mystic Bounds (including my good friend @shade491 who’s an awesome dude), and a huge thank you to my friends for supporting me throughout my journey to beat this level (you can see the crazy far fails in the video)! And of course, a MAJOR thank you once again to gmdmann for an incredible job well done, and for the incredible opportunity. This level gets a 100/100 from me, genuinely an incredible addition to my top 3 favorite levels of all time in GD. I just can’t recommend it enough; GO PLAY MYSTIC BOUNDS!!!
