The Mystic Record is the True Final Boss of the game Mystical Chain, a fangame of the Touhou Project created by team Lion Heart. Mystical Chain is an action/platformer game based on the Touhou Project, a series of doujin games created by the programmer known by the pseudonym of ZUN. Mystical Chain, rather than being a danmaku shooter is an action/platformer game where you cruise through stages and battle battles of epic proportions. This is a good example of said epicness.

Here we are, the secret boss of the game. The game calls it Mystic Record, but if you're a fan of the Touhou series you will instantly recognize her as Alice Margatroid, the puppeteer witch that lives next to Marisa Kirisame in the Forest of Magic. However, she looks... young. That's because Alice is one of the four characters in the series that survived the transition from the PC-98 era to the Windows era, along with Reimu Hakurei, Marisa, and Yuka Kazami. In the original series, Alice was a mere child resident of Makai, presumably created by Shinki, the creator of all Makai. Alice appeared in the Mystic Square, probably the reason this boss is called Mystic Record and why she has this appearance.

This is one of the most awesome bosses ever, period. It is simply magnificent. The fight, the mood, the song, everything about it screams Extra Boss. And this isn't the first time she pulls this either. The Extra Boss of the game Mystic Square is precisely Alice Margatroid with the grimoire. She was made to be an Extra Boss. I'll talk more about my thoughts in the description of Part II, let's talk about what we see in this part.

All of Alice's spells are incredible, both in gameplay and in difficulty. In this part we see the first and second spells and the first half of the third spell. This first spell is extremely difficult and punishing. If you missed a beat, be prepared for a world of hurt. The first time I fought this spell was... as far as I got. The second spell is the easiest spell of all, but once again, if you miss a step you will feel the pain. And with the gimmick of this spell you cannot switch partners to regain health, so be prepared for it. Also, unless you're Alice or lucky, good luck comboing in this spell. Finally the third spell is one of the most excruciating experiences in the game. Once again, one lost beat is all it takes. Good luck making lil' Alice FLINCH without Marisa or a Spell Card. With the exception of the first spell, all of Alices spells have a very defined pattern, even if they are directly aimed at you.
