The extra stage of the Scarlet Playthrough. A video of me literally just surviving the magical centennial girl, Flandre Scarlet, in a game of reflexes, skill, and pure dodging.

Flandre Scarlet (the last moe thing you'll ever meet) is the Extra Stage boss of the game Embodiment of Scarlet Devil, the 6th installment of the Touhou Project. The Touho Project is a series of danmaku shooter where little insane girls fight equally insane shrine maidens and witch in a fight to the death... only that not really.

First of all, for those that doesn't quite get the concept of the video. A Pacifist run in a shooter is a run where the player doesn't fire a single bullet to the boss. How does that work? Simple: If the game has some sort of timer before the boss passes to the next phase, spellcard in this case, you can simply beat the boss by surviving the entire fight. The fight ends and you win after time runs out. This video in particular is a bomb allowed Pacifist. I cannot shoot, but I can use bombs to survive situations where I would otherwise be hit. That's all.

Some of you might have already seen this video, without annotation or description or even a title. For that I'm sorry, my bad. I was uploading the video and since uploading my vid take around 1-1 1/2 hours, more at this moment since my internet is going too forced right now, with 4 computers and some downloading and things. The case is that while it uploaded, I went to play some UFO and when I finished a few hours later, the video had already finished uploading, but Youtube didn't processed the order I gave of making it Private. Therefore several people saw it and even commented on it. I deleted that video and did the upload all over again. I'm sorry for the inconvenience, but I hate half-assed jobs. I only accept three-quarts of asses or higher. I'LL SEE YOU IN THE GATES OF HELL, YOUTUBE!!!

Now that that is out of the way, into the video. I'm wondering, while watching the Scarlet Playthrough compilation of videos, how many of you picked up the clues that after the playthrough, a video of Flan was coming up? I'm really interested, so don't forget to comment about it.

So yeah, I left a few clues that Scarlet Playthrough was going to also include a video of Flan. For starter, if we go way back to the Mountain Playthrough, I insisted on making Suwako Pacifist official part of the playthrough. Though that's not saying much since there isn't any Pacifist of Mokou from my part. But more related to the videos themselves, I remember two clues, I don't recall if there are more. The first clue appeared in Remi's video description, at the end, when I said "I have my plans," indicating that this wasn't over. The second clue came in the credits of that video, where the last image was a spotlight on Flandre with the subtitles "One little Indian boy left alone..." Note that not only I did the spotlight; I also left the phrase unfinished, suggesting that there still was one more Indian to go. So yeah =/

The Pacifist took less time that I imagined and unlike Suwako, this is a real Pacifist run. Bombs weren't used aggressively and they were only used in spellcards, where the boss doesn't take damage. The main problem with Pacifist is that by the time you arrive to the Boss fifth spell in your days of practice, you had already mastered the first four spell, five nonspells, and an entire stage. And you have to do them all, all over again when you die. My suggestion for this is the next. There's nothing you can do about the stage, but if you can already consistently outlast a spell, simply shoot in that spell and continue on. You'll be saving a lot of time by shooting in those four spells you mastered. You should only try to really go for the pacifist when you can outlast with minimal bombing all the other spells. The survival spell is that, survival. You can train for it, but it would be redundant since you should had been practicing it every single time you manage to get to it in every single run of the stage. As for the final spell: In Touhou at least, unless you're against Mokou, the first two minutes of the spell are absurdly easy and training for those last 30-20 seconds is, in all honesty, ridiculous.

And that's the technical stuff. See the second part for the entire play:
