NAL is Dead is a compilation of games by NAL, ranging from 2003 to 2015, when he abandoned NALGames and joined Chequered Ink. It's available for purchase here: https://ci.itch.io/nal-is-dead

Seeing a game developer's progression this well documented is fascinating. I recommend you buy the package because it also comes with a pdf file discussing most of the games along with other miscellaneous goodies.

In this video, I play everything NAL released in 2004-2005. And yes, I realized about halfway through this video that had I changed my desktop resolution, there may have been negative consequences.

If it seems like I'm going through the games in a random order, it's because I'm following the 'release order' specified by a file in the package.

Fight of the Height 1: This game has such a beautiful animating background. I think game may have a slight advantage because of it. Ultimately, this is a two-player game, so I'm not going to get much out of it, especially when it takes 50 shots to kill a player.

Fight of the Height 2: The shooting controls for this one were changed and I couldn't find any help in game for them. It didn't help that I thought the crosshairs on screen were where each player would shoot, not teleport points. Still, ultimately, a two player game and I am still, ultimately, only one person.

Fight of the Height 3: I think this is the first game that uses the Notalot Games moniker. I actually figure out the shooting controls and that the crosshairs are teleport points on this one.

Fight of the Height 3 V2: Now with fancy single player mode! And strangely disorienting splitscreen mode.

Cannon Fodder: I guess this one was interesting? The cannonball physics are very strange and the bird just gave up on the left side of the screen. I didn't feel inclined to stick around for the full two minutes.

Penalties: Did you know if you make something quickly, it's not your fault it's rubbish? Not much to this game, it's two players, and certainly not much fun if you're controlling both. I'm not entirely convinced it would be great with two either.

Rigmorol's Platform Adventure: I do believe that's a typo in the title. Despite the entirely bizarre plot, this one seemed like it had the opportunity to be fun. Unfortunately, the controls seemed to be broken for me and jumping sideways didn't seem to work correctly. There's a plot though.

Jinx'd: This one was actually pretty fun! (The music did seem very familiar though.) From the controls screen, I was around 80% sure it was a joke, but it actually wasn't. The pink blob can only move in the diagonals, and the red in straight lines (although you can hold two directions to move diagonally as the red). Some of the level design was... not the best, but this was easily my favorite game so far. I ended up exiting because it looked like I got loaded into an impassible level.

Dodgy Roof: Yep, one of those games where you dodge falling entities. The weird crab walk was actually fairly captivating.

The Dodgy Roof: Pretty much the same time game but with a much faster (and more satisfying) difficulty curve. The shaking background was very distracting though.
