Nascar 1999 Rendition(Work in progress vid #4) with Dosbox-Rendition and RReady Rendition Verité @4k
I realised I hadn't posted a video of Nascar 1999 with the rear view mirror colours working, so here it is. This game is almost identical to Nascar 2 but with souped up graphics, which is why the framerate dips from time to time.
Also in this video NR1999 Rendition Edition is running with new register/memory access locking tweaks, so the framerate is consistently higher (but capped at 30 by the game).
The new tweak does not appear to fix the DMA instability completely, but does allow this game to run on UDH620 and HD4000 graphics (which aren't officially supported) at low framerates (8 fps UHD (2 cores, 4 threads @ 2 GHz, 14 fps HD4000 (2 threads at 3.4 GHz) with native resolution). I even managed to get ICR2's replay framerates to go higher, but can't replicate it today, so it's down to gremlins. The threadsafe setting is still required as is the forced internal slowdown during DMA transfers to keep this game and Nascar 2 stable, but the framerate is consistently more stable.
Rendition DOS support is tanked by Dosbox's CPU emulation. Once 16/32 bit support is stripped out as Intel/AMD claim is on their roadmap, 64-bit Dosbox/RReady (currently 32 bit only) should allow Speedy3D games to run, but Win32 RRedline will end up suffering as well. Currently games like vQuake2 cruise along at over 300 fps (with vsync disabled from RLauncher)
