vQuake2 Edge Antialiasing Modes with RReady Rendition Verité @4k
One more boring video, because I'm stuck pretty much everywhere else with RReady.
This demonstrates the edge antialiasing modes available with RReady when running Quake engine games (Sorry not frame accurate).
This can be enabled by setting:
vQuake/vHexen II
r_antialias 7
or vQuake2
v1k_antialias 7
This is a bit mask, with:
1 - World
2 - Characters
4 - Particles
Add the figures together to get the AA mode required. 0 is everything switched off.
Note: Toggling world AA via a command alias while in game is a bit unstable. So do that at your peril.
The RReady modes can toggled by setting
UseMSAA=2 (for custom edge AA)
or
UseMSAA=1 (or omitted, for MSAA edge AA).
Note 2: Edge AA on original hardware is superior to what you get with RReady at the moment. When I finish the custom AA mode, it should hopefully be as good as the real thing and will be made the default.
The edge AA commands for the world are cached until the end by RReady for performance reasons. This is most probably why random AA lines crisscross across the screen.
