This is one of MANY doujin games based on or featuring characters from the popular visual novel/anime/other "Kanon". I'm not going to describe what Kanon is exactly as I've done so a couple of times but I will provide a link:

As the title alludes to, Nayuki Maze (also spelled "なゆきメイズ") is a doujin Kanon version of a little known game called "Marchen Maze" (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M%C3%A4rchen_Maze) that had players walk around and shoot enemies off the stage while not being bumped off yourself. Each of the playable characters in this game have different attack styles (with Nayuki herself having the most typical straight shot) that can be upgraded. You can also get bonus points, a barrier to protect from harm and a balloon that will save you once if you get knocked off the stage or fall in a hole (I don't believe it carries over to the next stage though).

The game is actually pretty difficult not necessarily because of the enemies and the stages themselves (although the stages can require tricky platforming)...it's that the stages give you little time; you can't take your time even in difficult spots and are sorta forced along. If you run out of time while fighting a boss, you're okay, but you lose a life if you run out of time before fighting the boss.
