Need For Speed 2 (PS1) Playthrough - Part 1 - Intro and Tournament Mode
5Welcome to my Playthrough of Need For Speed 2 for the Ps1. One of my first videos on youtube was from NFS2 so i decided to do a full playthrough of it. Improving on the already sucessfull formula of the First NFS game, NFS2 offers more content and more freedom in car selection. Starting off i will be doing the tournament mode and in this playthrough i will always be playing in the Simulation mode instead of the Arcade Mode handling as its more challenging and it adds more depth to each cars handling. The CPU of this game can be very Unga-Bunga as it will not care for its own safety most of the time if it means taking you out in the process so get ready for possible wreckings. This game as 2 classes of cars to dictate what will be your opponents depending which car you select:
Class 1 - Mclaren F1, Ferrari F50, Ford GT90 and the Lotus GT1.
Class 2 - Jaguar XJ220, Isdera i112 , Lotus Esprit V8 and the Italdesign Calà.
The difference between Arcade and Simulation is as follows:
Arcade: Cars have perfect full acceleration grip from standstill acceleration, better handling and very powerful brakes. Braking or landing with the car sideways after ramping causes the car to enter drift mode until the car is settled in a straight line again. This is your main way to quickly do corners at arcade.
Simulation: Every car aspect will be more realistic to the extent of the games design with standstill acceleration being limited by the cars grip, gear ratio, power etc... Tire spin offers almost no grip on simulation and more often trying to corner like this is a sure fire way to spin so acceleration and gear control are very important. Your brakes arent F1 strong anymore so proper braking distance is crucial and finally every car will behave differently under various circunstances.
By getting a 1st place on all tracks in the Tournament you unlock the only unlockable car in the PS1 version, The Ford Indigo.
