Need for Speed 30th Anniversary Marathon ep.22 - Need for Speed Heat
Need for Speed Heat is the second last NFS game released in the series and that is the second last NFS on my Marathon playlist but did it really turn up the Heat?
Yes! Personally I found the story mode to be interesting, the handling had again different characteristics none of the todays NFS handling I would say is like the most comfortable or stable for lots of players but when you master it and tune up the cars for your driving style, in general the whole mechanics when you get used to it, it can be enjoyable.
This is the first game to introduce a switchable Day/Night Cycle with the Police Difficulty depending on it. The Police as it's been said in the night fighting the street scene was more brutal than when you was having a chase during the daytime. Also the races in the daytime was legal like for example in NFS Pro Street, those in the nights wasn't.
The game is not ultra long or again it didn't had more updates unfortunately, but you could probably for the first time since NFS World have police chases with a friend where any hit, any help or escape was counting for both players xp. It was in general quite amazing cooperation game which unfortunately EA didn't decide to support.
The graphics had it's vibe back in the day but there is few important facts... the game wasn't perfectly optimized or there was some glitches with high CPU usage and there was quite a bit too much effects during the daytime.
The community however did a amazing job releasing "UNITE Heat" by the UNITE Team and when you only finish the game in it's original/vanilla state, this UNITE Mod is truly a gamechanger so it only shows how much the game had potential and it still remains one of the very strong favourites among some of the latest NFS titles.
Here I will show you a race during the daytime and also during the night, after it you can expect police chase to show up again.
