Need For Speed: Most Wanted [PCSX2] | HeSuVi + Dolby Pro Logic II | Headphone Virtual Surround 5.1
Apparently, this may be the only way to get surround sound on PC, since the PC version can only be set to Mono or Stereo (even on Windows XP with a Soundblaster X-Fi sound card).
I've come across several unverified reports of the PC version having DirectSound3D (https://web.archive.org/web/20130702030043/http://connect.creativelabs.com:80/alchemy/Lists/Games/AllItems.aspx), but so far, I've only seen traces of EAX strings within the executable file.
It does seem to use regular DirectSound (no 3D) since DSOAL is able to virtualize its stereo output.
According to this video (https://youtu.be/C9TmNiDUfME), EAX was scrapped in favor of THX during development.
This demo uses a custom Dolby Pro Logic II decoder to convert the game's Dolby Pro Logic II-encoded stereo back into surround, which HeSuVi then can virtualize for headphone surround sound: https://github.com/Dogway/emulation-random/tree/master/EqualizerAPO/Surround
