Nefarious - Part 5 - Mixing Business with Treasure
The Sovereign has landed on an uninhabited shore or island, and Crow's submarine is ready to take him and Apoidea deep into the Heartless Abyss, a dangerous undersea region where some sunken treasure lies. The agreement is to split the treasure in half, and here we see that Crow's not that bad a guy as he might appear, despite being a villain. When he needs somebody's help, he will play fair and keep his word--no double crosses. He says he prefers to save them for the end, when they're least expected, but he appears to prefer to avoid them when he won't benefit from them and because he genuinely trusts Apoidea and hopes she'll trust him in return.
The game takes on a different art style in Heartless Abyss, where everything is a silhouette of varous bright colors, including Crow, Apoidea, and the submarine. Looks quite nice without it being jarring, and everything is recognizable as it is. You also get an idea of how insanely large some of the sea monsters found in Heartless Abyss is.
Despite Crow being armed only with the submarine's anchor and there being no checkpoints at all, this is one of the easiest stages in the game. There are almost no enemies, the submarine has a lot more HP than Crow, and most of the dangerous things are stationary jagged terrain, all of which is marked a bright pink. (Did this come first, or did Just Shapes & Beats come first? In Just Shapes & Beats, you're supposed to avoid all the pink things too. Then again, same goes for Mighty No. 9.) There is also no boss, and the slow, relaxing music helps keep you calm. Well, it keeps me calm anyway.
As a result, I got all three crowns and the record in one go. It's probably supposed to be easy though, since you'd have to start all over if you fail.
After Crow and Apoidea split the money 50-50, fair as can be, they find the fifth princess. Her name is Farrah Day, and she is the least normal princess Crow comes across, as she was artificially created as a concentrated source of royal energy. Farrah is kept in a cage (get it? Faraday Cage?) at Adept Co., a company Crow knows does some shady things. It becomes open for Crow to invade, but the Villain Museum was unlocked too, so we're heading there next.
