♫NEMESIS (Atari 8-bit) SNES Arrangement - NintendoComplete
This is an arrangement of the theme used in the 1990 demo "Nemesis" for Atari 8-bit computers. I have arranged it for native playback on SNES hardware, and the audio was recorded directly from a launch-model SNES console.
I think that, even per my usual standards, this is some fairly exotic stuff - I'm going to be surprised if anyone recognizes this - but the 80s computer demo scene brought us a lot of cool stuff, and this was always a favorite of mine. It was crazy to see and hear this on such an ancient (even in 1990!) platform.
In a friendly nod to the Pokey's signature sound, I've heavily detuned some of the samples to create that warbly, dissonant chorusing effect. I didn't push it enough to make the notes go as flat as they do on the Pokey, but I think I managed to do it enough to make the point without making it sound too too harsh.
And no, despite clearly taking the name and the idea for the image from Konami's Nemesis/Salamander, I don't believe they are at all related.
Anyone recognize the song that the samples are taken from? ;)
Thanks for listening. I hope you all like it!
