NEO: The World Ends With You Review - Escaping Legacy
Welcome to my first review in quite some time; NEO: The World Ends With You from Square Enix for PlayStation and Nintendo Switch (I played it on Switch). NEO is a good JRPG, and I enjoyed it. I figured I would, so that was less the subject of my introspection than how NEO TWEWY would escape the legacy created by the original TWEWY on Nintendo DS. The first game was lightning in a bottle, and thankfully, NEO doesn’t really make an effort to carry that kind of baggage. It just tries to be a good game, and succeeds.
It is not lost on me that there is a bit of through line here with my own YouTube experience. It is impossible to escape one’s legacy. I can only try to make the best effort with what I have today.
