Seven years ago, I released two videos about “trimming the fat” from my huge video game collection. The journey I went on resulted in selling roughly half of my 2,400 video games. I have often been asked if I regret the decision, and the answer is no, but that doesn’t mean I haven’t felt a whole host of other emotions. Now, seven years later, I thought it would be worthwhile to discuss the impact selling 1,200 games from my collection had on my sense of identity, my mental health, my ability to create videos, and more. I also offer some tips for anyone who might also be considering selling some of their collection, including developing a process and having a plan for the money you raise.
