NES Challenge - Bomberman in 2:54:18 [212/714]
0Fantastic game from Hudsonsoft. Takes a bit to figure out how to handle the RNG and enemy movements but works great. As long as you don't have any mental lapses, or miss inputs, you become near invincible toward the end. In fact I think I touched an enemy and got hit by my bomb but didn't die. It may have been some of those "guy on fire" powerups.
The graphics and sound are ok, but the fun comes in the strategy and gameplay. Learning how to maximize bomb damage and timing is crucial. The manual is actually the issue because it doesn't go over the power ups at all - at least no pictures. It would be nice to know what you are picking up. The password system is great, but a kind of odd for a game like this. All it really does it put you on the level and list what you've collected. The only real difference I've seen in the levels is the harder enemies and I think there are more blocks. Need to note that the hardest part I feel, other than cornering yourself or being in the detonation blast, is getting over excited with the remote and detonating too early or hitting AB at the same time while just trying to drop a bunch of bombs at once.
I think this is a really great game and should probably fall in the Top 150 to 100 range and it may sneak in higher.
