NES Challenge - Defender II in 33:22 [207/714]
A really decent arcade port. I enjoyed the original Defender and put my share of quarters in it at Pizza Hut as a kid. Like any arcade game though, they seem to be fun to play for a bit but become repetitive just with the levels going up and the challenge increasing but no real payoff.
The speedrun goal is just beating 5 waves, but the general consensus is simply beating Wave 9. After that it goes A-Z and then starts throwing up weird symbols eventually looping at level 255.
The control is good even if it gets to be a bit quick, very responsive. The graphics are what you get out of a port of Defender, but the music has been updated a bit. Overall though this is an Atari game wrapped in a NES shell so its fun to play for a bit and then you toss it to the side. I'd place this in the 500-600 range of games to have in your collection.
