This is actually a very old video of my Star Tropics 2 TAS -- about a year old or so. I stopped doing the TAS for a wide variety of reasons, not the least of which is that I hate Chapter 4, but I will keep going with it if I get some support and/or feel like it. It beats the current TAS by 14 seconds so far, so I think I can get it under an hour by the end, which is cool.

Anyway, this part contains the intro and the first two dungeons. Enjoy, and comment if you have suggestions or any reason you want.

For those interested, doing the first dungeon of with the dagger Chapter 3 is not faster. This is not speculation either: I actually went through the dungeon with both the axe and the dagger and compared the times. The dagger only helps to kill the four hedgehogs, the four bandits, and the boss faster. The second or so this saves is not enough to make up for the 13 second defecit of getting the dagger early.

A lot of the improvements come from taking advantage of the fact that moving diagonally, including sliding on walls, is exactly the same speed as walking straight. Changing direction also costs something like 5 frames, so I try to minimize direction changes, which sami did not do. I also take advantage of the fact that direction changes are free while jumping and attacking. Every other improvement is quite minor and not worth mentioning.

A big example of the advantage of diagonal sliding / using diagonal movement to go through rooms is in the first room with two hedgehogs in the second dungeon. The hedgehog in the bottom row will always curl up immediately unless you enter the room diagonally and move immediately. If it curls up, you have to wait for it to uncurl before you can hurt it. I saved half a second in that room alone simply because I entered the room diagonally.
