AMD might finally be cooking something worthwhile for handhelds with the rumored Ryzen Z2 APU, which looks to be a refined version of the Steam Deck’s Van Gogh chip. MSI’s reportedly using it in the next Claw handheld, and early signs suggest it could bring real performance improvements, not just power savings. Meanwhile, NVIDIA dropped a new Unreal Engine 5 demo called Zorah — and while it's stunning on the surface with 108GB of full path-traced detail, let’s be honest: it’s more of a flex than something gamers will actually benefit from anytime soon. On the hardware side, Gigabyte’s working on a ridiculously tiny RTX 5060 Ti with a sub-10cm PCB, but again, that doesn’t solve the elephant in the room — these mid-tier GPUs still don’t offer value. AMD’s RX 9070 GRE specs just leaked too, showing 3072 cores and 12GB of VRAM, which is decent, but unless pricing hits the sweet spot, it’s just more of the same. And sure, NVIDIA’s latest driver update promises up to 3.8% synthetic gains, but let’s not pretend that moves the needle. In a market desperate for meaningful upgrades, we’re still mostly getting smoke and mirrors.
