New Battlefield Game In Trouble As EA Closes Studio...
EA has shutdown Ridgeline Games, the brand-new studio that was working on a new Battlefield Singleplayer experience. The news comes days after the resignation of Director, Marcus Lehto. Battlefield as a franchise could be in trouble and this news is really unfortunate to learn about. EA has continued to work on this new platform for future Battlefield games, enlisting the help of multiple studios, all led by Vince Zampella of Respawn Entertainment. The news of Ridgeline Games shutting down came amidst the larger layoffs that EA just did a few days ago, letting go of 670 members of their staff. It's a challenging year for the game industry with layoffs happening everywhere. As a Battlefield fan and player, I was really looking forward to a new singleplayer experience with development led by Halo Co-Creator Marcus Lehto. Unfortunately it sounds like whatever they were working on likely won't carry over to Criterion, who will be picking up the development of singleplayer side of this new Battlefield. Speaking of which, we learned that the next Battlefield game is likely to release in October 2025, it will feature 64 player matches, and a return to the 4 player class system. What do you think of this recent news? Are you worried about the next Battlefield title? Thanks for watching.
