Over the last couple of months Piranha Bytes Studio Lead Jenny Pankratz has been answering fan questions on a German Forum: https://forum.worldofplayers.de/forum/threads/1493699-Der-Fragen-an-Piranha-Bytes-Thread-2/page16.

I had no idea they communicated with fans like this until a few days ago and I was fairly shocked given it's very hard to find ANY info on this game and if it's even real.

I've done my best to summarise and read through the lines a little given Jenny is at the mercy of her publisher THQ Nordic and therefore can't give anything too obvious away, but it sounds like development is progressing well, she shared some of the design philosophy surrounding their new game and I imagine it will release next year given it should have been announced this year if not for the state of the world right now.

I'm excited! I loved Elex and love anything Piranha Bytes so I'll be keeping a close eye on this forum thread and any new info that emerges.
