It is one of the most famous second world war stories.
One night in 1943 a squadron of 19 Lancaster bombers began their run to destroy three dams and cripple the Third Reich's industrial war machine.
They became known as the Dam Busters and their mission, one of the most daring of the Second World War, was later turned into the famous film starring Michael Redgrave and Richard Todd.
However up until now only two definitive works have ever been written about the Dambusters story. The last one was 60 years ago and there is much that has either been forgotten or never told about what happened.
British Forces News has been speaking to James Holland - the bestselling author of the Battle of Britain - about his account of the mission.
