Afghan forces in Helmand for the first time this month have planned and carried out their own construction of two vital strongpoints. Senior ISAF commanders say it represents a significant step forward in the operational capability of Kabul's military and its eventual ability to stand alone. The successful operation should close off a major insurgent supply route for the first time.
