Nik Turner has died at age 82
20Nik Turner, a singer, musician, and lyricist with Hawkwind, has passed away. Age-wise, he was 82. In a post on his Facebook, the information was verified. One of the first psychedelic space-rock bands, Hawkwind was notable for being Lemmy Kilmister's band before he left in 1975 (for using, as he memorably phrased it, "the wrong drugs,") and started Motörhead.
"We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Nik Turner - The Might Thunder Rider, who passed away peacefully at home on Thursday evening," the statement on Turner's social account reads. "He has moved onto the next phase of his Cosmic Journey, guided by the love of his family, friends and fans. Watch this space for his arrangements."
