This Ayane-inspired costume initially drew solely from the Phantom Butterfly costume of Σ2. Ryu's scarf is the same butterfly-wing texture that adorns the streamers that hang from the large bow on Ayane's back; the shozoku was the same shade of purple of that costume, but I realized that was barely any different from the default shozoku; the scarf around Ryu's neck turned out to be such a dark pink that it was almost red; and I didn't even touch the cord across Ryu's chest that secures the sword. That might've been acceptable a few weeks ago, but the creative juices have been overflowing since I worked on the Kasumi and Momiji costumes. Halfway through recording, I went in to perform an overhaul. Now, the collar of Ryu's scarf is light pink to match the gradient that goes down his back; his sash is a lighter pink to more-closely resemble Ayane's Phantom Butterfly outfit; and his chest and hood bear the same pattern of leaves as Ayane's bodysuit from her Blossom of Miyama costume. I've chosen to differentiate this costume from another Ayane costume I've been working on by labeling it a Σ2-inspired skin, especially now that it draws from multiple Σ2 Ayane costumes.

You may have noticed the pillbugs and ogres have been retextured. Well, Paz Zuu was given love, as well--his eyes glow a menacing red from deep inside that bulbous skull of his. I also retextured the fish that swim in the moat, missed an opportunity to change the chapter 11 title screen to what was hidden in the NG04 demo, and you can tell I've been watching too many JTB and Kell karma run videos. The music should sound familiar to my NG2 veterans and if anyone out there is a fellow Otogi/Otogi 2 fan, you would have noticed the Doku battle theme was replaced with that of the Crimson King. My little love letter to the third part of my trinity of all-time favorite games.
