10Ninja Gaiden II: The Dark Sword of Chaos, known in Japan as Ninja Ryukenden 2: Ankoku no Jiashinken (忍者 龍 剣 伝 II 暗 黒 の 邪神 剣), and in Europe Shadow Warriors II: The Dark Sword of Chaos is a video game A platformer genre developed and published by Tecmo for the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES). It is a sequel to the 1988 game Ninja Gaiden. Released in Japan on April 6, 1990, in North America in May 1990, and in Europe on October 27, 1994. In 1991, the game was ported to the Commodore Amiga and DOS by GameTek. It is part of the 1995 SNES compilation Ninja Gaiden Trilogy. It was released on Wii on October 15, 2007 via Virtual Console. The game takes place a year after the events of Ninja Gaiden, the first game in the trilogy. The evil emperor Ashtar has developed an insidious plan to take over the world and plunge it into darkness using a sword called the "Dark Sword of Chaos".
History - The story begins a year after the events of the first Ninja Gaiden game. In the dark kingdom, the evil lord Ashtar develops a plan to rule over the Earth by opening the gates of darkness. United States Army Special Agent Robert T.S. goes to find Ryu and stop Ashtar. Robert informs Ryu that Irene Lew, the friend of the protagonist from the first part, has been captured and that he must go to a certain tower to save her.
After overcoming a train of boxcars and making his way through the mountains in which the tower is located, Ryu is ambushed by a villain who appears to be a supporter of worldwide chaos, led by the emperor of darkness Ashtar. At the top of the tower, Ryu finds Irene, captured by Ashtar. Ashtar tries to hit Ryu with energy from his sword, but Robert appears and shoots Ashtar in the back, stopping him. Rejecting Robert's call to lay down his sword and surrender, Ashtar hides with Irene, urging Ryu to follow him into the Labyrinth of Darkness.
Robert tells Ryu about Ashtar's plot to take over the world using the full power of his Dark Sword of Chaos. Robert pleads with Ryu to stop Ashtar before the Chaos Sword reaches its full power. Having overcome the labyrinth of Darkness and the world of Chaos, our hero hears from a distance the echoes of a villainous plan. Ryu catches up with Ashtar. He frees Irene, but as soon as the girl took a couple of steps towards Ryu, Ashtar stabs her in the back with his sword. This scene is seen by Robert appearing. With the Chaos Sword, Ashtar unleashes an energy charge at Robert and engages Ryu in battle. Ryu defeats the evil ruler, but before his death Ashtar says that the power of Darkness will soon awaken, and calls on the forces of Chaos to envelop the world in darkness. And as he spoke his words, the sword of Chaos vanished into thin air.
After Ashtar's death, Irene informs Ryu that it is necessary to destroy a certain altar prepared by the villain to open the gates of Darkness. Ryu says goodbye to Irene, promising to return as soon as possible, asking Robert to take care of Irene and leave the world of Chaos.
As Ryu progresses into the world of Darkness, Irene and Robert making their way back are stopped by the dark figure of a stranger.
After defeating the creature from the previous part of the game, Ryu finds a mortally wounded Robert on the ground. He told that Irene was captured again, and it is necessary to prevent the opening of the gates of Darkness. Robert asks to leave him. Ryu catches up with Irene's kidnapper at the altar. In the dark figure, Ryu recognizes Jaquio, the main villain of the previous Ninja Gaiden game.
Jaco reveals his villainous plan to Ryu. The fact that Ashtar was just a pawn in his plan to awaken true evil. With the help of the sword of Chaos and the life force of Irene, the gates of Darkness will be opened and all demons will be summoned.
Ryu engages in battle with the villain and defeats Jaco. Together with Irene, they try to destroy the altar. But Jaco's blood awakens the Dark Sword, which opens the gates of Darkness. The Chaos Sword strikes Ryu and Irene with energy.
Jaco is reborn twice into a powerful, devilish wall. Ryu attacks him again and again. Finally, with the help of the power of his Dragon sword, the hero defeats evil, and the sword of Chaos disintegrates, closing the gates of Darkness.
The temple begins to collapse, Ryu hastily leaves it, carrying Irene in his arms. Believing that Irene is dead, he mourns her, but the power of the Dragon's sword revives Irene. Ryu informs her that it's over, and together with Irene, at the top of the mountain, they watch the sunset ...
