Nintendo 64 (N64) Controller Repair - Analog Stick Replacement
**This is the shortened version of my live repair video, removing the cleaning portion in the middle and all but one of the test play sessions of the analog stick replacement.**
Going to replace a loose analog stick on a Nintendo 64 controller. Will be using a Gamecube style stick instead of the original style - I was planning on doing both styles but both I was sent were identical though I had ordered different ones through different suppliers (one of them screwed up). Probably just as well, gave me a chance to practice first so I won't be caught unawares when I do this live.
Only tools you need are phillips head screwdrivers - you'll need a small one for the screws by the memory card slot. While I am in there, I will also clean it up as necessary and check the contacts. Won't be changing out the silicone contacts today as I believe the buttons are OK on this unit (a project for a later date).
After I finish it, I'll then give it a test run to see how it compares to the original. I've read mixed reviews of both styles (which is why I wanted to do both) so decided to check them out for myself and share those results.
