No Man's Sky Creative Building Review
16Welcome to my review of Base Building in the Creative Mode added in the Foundation Update of No Man's Sky. In this video, we do a quick overview of some of the building features, and a few things that weren't quite obvious at first. Afterwards, I build a sweet base and give a quick tour while talking about my experience while building.
There are several features I feel heavily detract from the experience of base building in this game:
- There's a build limit. Why would you incorporate a mode specifically centered around a player's creativity and then enforce regulations on how creative that player can be?
- The lights don't illuminate. What's up with that?
- There's not much variety in the clutter. For a creative mode, there really aren't that many optional pieces.
- You can't really maneuver. While in the build mode there's no ability to jump or use your jetpack. This makes it very dificult to get to some of those hard to reach places.
- There's no hotkey to exit building mode. You have to enter a menu and exit it. Annoying.
All in all, building in this game is a mediocre experience. It's fun once, but once you've done it, you've done it.
