[No Ubers] Brainwashed Axe Awakens! | Hyperberserker | The Battle Cats
Malevolent Dark is by far the most unique in terms of enemy design, instead of just slapping on a shield, getting counter surge and being almost an exact replica of the Manic variant, instead of Freezing your units he boasts something almost just as deadly: Curse. This debuff combined with his fast attack speed makes almost any anti-aku completely nullified of their statuses, and with a stage that is purely made of Aku enemies, having your anti-Aku units cursed is a pretty bad predicament if I'd say so myself.
Surge Immunity and good stacking power is a must if you want to be able to protect your stack from the constant waves of Condemned Pengs, Sinner Snaches and Devil Wifes. Li'l King Dragon fits this bill perfectly but you can also experiment with things like Gridiron and *maybe* Luza if you're going to go for a less stackable, more heavy hitting option. Cone is the best option to have due to it's curse immunity. If you have it it's basically a must bring, however if you don't you can always use your classic dual Erasers and Rock to help with the stalling. Egg Pod apparently also helps but that's if you really spend a lot of time with Behemoth Culling but if you do great! Finally shield piercers, Barrel Cat can provide great LD damage AND shield piercing in one package, the only problem is that it won't be able to outrange Malevolent Dark, so a stepping stones needs to be present to make him work. Otherwise Cat Researcher is the other common choice, outranging Malevolent Dark by a pretty wide margin, it's only downside being no surge immunity so be sure to time it well.
