North Loop Mount Charleston | Fresh Water Spring
Hikers should bring sufficient water on all hikes. Where there is a natural source of water, it should be filtered and treated before consumption: unless one is in a dire emergency where such precautions cannot be taken for lack of tools and resources. South Loop Trailhead is within an enclosed parking area which closes after a certain time. Redoing the North Loop instead of taking the South Loop and linking up with North Loop area as shown in the last reel. Confirmed Cathedral Rock hours with the rangers. The North Access Route, intersects the North Loop, with a steep incline back up to the North Loop where one may resume the route. A steep and quick scramble, with rapid elevation gain, is preferable to long drawn out hikes up a continuous incline. Looking down to trail Canyon from the North Loop it will be a good scramble but less drawn out. Trying to avoid the very drawn out walk across an inclined path in favor of quick and rapid scrambles. The plan now is to intersect the North Loop by way of a rapid scramble or hike up sharp incline, resume the North Loop, and reworking the same ground until the main route to Mt. Charleston Peak. Go for quick and rapid elevation gain over long and drawn out inclined hikes. Never built rock cairns randomly. Some hikers have seen a misplaced cairn which sends folks into the wrong direction. @jefcla1172 might be especially interested in the cave and the fresh water spring.
