Here are my thoughts on the unfolding events surrounding the shut-down of the private legacy / pristine server "Nostalrius Begins", and the topic of preserving online games.

One of the most popular private World of Warcraft vanilla servers is shutting down after receiving a cease and desist from Blizzard.
This marks the end of the server, which had 800,000 registered users, of which over 150,000 were active.

What is the debacle about? Why are Blizzard doing this? Why won't Blizzard add old servers?
