I figured out how to change what weapon Ellie uses as a buddy.
Instead of her 9mm pistol, she can use all the weapons hunters can also use!
(Also works with all the other buddies.)

I did try the assault rifle, but unfortunately it didn't work, as much as I hoped it would.
