Nuke 15.0 & 14.1 | 3D viewer selection (beta)
For this release we are introducing a brand new viewer selection experience, with a dedicated 3D toolbar on the right hand side of the viewer and new two-tier selections for greater control when working in much larger stages.
Artists can set whether they want to be in object, face or vertex mode directly from this toolbar and there are now further selection controls which allow you to specify your selection based on the type or kind of the prims in the scene. This allows you to specify if you want to select an entire group of objects that are grouped together, or simply select at the different levels within that group.
Two tier selection also means that you can select an object, say the body of this robot character and then switch to face selection to only select the faces within the body shape. This gives users greater control when creating selections in complex scenes.
Controls for depth testing allow you to visualise selection outlines either in an occluded manner (the default) or without occlusions, so you have greater control over how you visualise your scene and the ‘enable occlusion testing’ control allows you to only the select faces and vertices in front of your viewer, or to select through for the selection of back faces and vertices.
We have also improved selection performance and most importantly decoupled the selection system from HDStorm to allow us to better support other Hydra render delegates in the future.
