Nuke 15.0 & 14.1 | Machine learning Inference in the timeline
In Nuke Studio or Hiero - Version 15 and 14.1 - you can now apply pre-trained Machine Learning models “dot cat files” - directly in the Timeline - via the new Inference Soft Effect. So you can preview your Copycat Image processing right on the Timeline, like any other effect, or apply it to several shots.
Achieving consistency of a Machine learning generated effect - across a range of shots can be challenging, so the timeline is the perfect place to ‘audition’ the new Inference Soft effect.
Whether it’s a copycat model you trained yourself: based on the subjects you want to adjust, or maybe generate a matte for, or, if you want to apply a Cattery model like semantic segmentation or Nafnet - you can now apply an Inference in-context, across multiple plates, as you prepare shots for distribution to individual artists.
Similar to adding LUTs, re-framing Transforms, Blink Scripts, or any other Soft Effects - Inference nodes can ‘travel’ from the timeline, into your artists' comp scripts as nodes, exactly as you previewed them, and still editable.
This means all artists are working with the same data and allows for greater collaboration from your Supervisor timeline to Individual artists Nuke scripts.
