"Nvidia is finally addressing the widespread black screen and instability issues plaguing their RTX 5000-series, along with some 40 and 30-series cards. Users have reported everything from minor stutters to full system crashes, and workarounds like capping refresh rates were only temporary. Now, Nvidia's rolling out a VBIOS update for some, and a driver fix is coming later this week to resolve these problems.
"These issues have been particularly prevalent in the new RTX 5000 series, which has already faced significant criticism. This launch has been marred by disappointing performance gains, extremely limited stock, inflated prices, and the reemergence of melting cable connector issues. Adding fuel to the fire, reports have surfaced regarding missing ROP units in the RTX 5080, compounding earlier concerns about similar issues in other 5000-series cards.
"The series of problems has led to a major PR setback for Nvidia. The RTX 5000 launch is being labeled as one of the worst in recent memory. While a fix for the black screen issue is a step in the right direction, it doesn't erase the other significant concerns that have frustrated consumers and damaged Nvidia's reputation.
"With Nvidia's primary focus on its lucrative data center business, many are questioning the company's commitment to its consumer graphics card division. The handling of these issues, particularly the lack of transparency regarding hardware discrepancies, raises concerns about Nvidia's long-term strategy for the gaming market."
