Oblige w/ Obaddon on Linux Mint 20.1 - Make and play your own doom megawads!
Become a Doom god, and make your own megawads easily without any level-creation experience! This video details step-by-step how to install Oblige with Obaddon addon in Linux Mint 20.1. I used to have to download new wads every time I wanted to play new levels, but now I just make my own! Oblige randomly generates Doom 1 & 2 levels according to variables that the user changes and tweaks. Right after installation, you can begin creating them immediately, but you will quickly want to change some of the variables to match what you want in the final output.
You can test and play these wad files on Linux, Windows, Mac, and Android just to name a few. I use GZDoom with ZDL frontend on Linux, and it runs beautiful! These wads combine easily with other gameplay wads to give you the experience you want. I use GZDoom and LZDoom with Delta Touch on Android, and these levels play great, but I keep the level size to average or less.
BTW, do NOT use the compile scripting from the Oblige home page. It WILL NOT work. Use the scripting you read below because IT WILL work!
Copy of scripting:
mkdir apps
cd apps
mkdir oblige
git clone https://github.com/caligari87/Oblige.git oblige
cd oblige
sudo apt update
sudo apt install libfltk1.3-dev g++-8
make "CXX=g++-8"
cd ..
mkdir obaddon
git clone https://github.com/caligari87/ObAddon.git obaddon
cd obaddon/scripts
make
Gameplay mods I use in the video:
Brutal Guncaster
Enhanced beam flashlight
Health regeneration version 3
Isabelle (from animal crossing, looks cute but she is a badass)
DHTP texture pack
D2 texture pack
Liquid texture pack
