OBS Studio 27.2.1 has been released with improved camera support, and more. Check out what's new in this update and see how to install on Linux.

Open Broadcaster is an open source and cross-platform software (available for Linux, Microsoft Windows and Apple OS X) that allows you to record your desktop activities and share them live on the web.

There are many programs to capture and record what happens on the computer screen for Linux. Even some tools to create GIFs or show what happens in the terminal. But if there is a complete program with advanced options for professionals, then OBS Studio.

OBS Studio is a complete video recording and streaming program.

It is ideal for recording everything that happens on the screen of courses, tutorials, uploading to platforms such as YouTube, or also broadcasting what you do live.

OBS Studio software is open source and free. A complete software streaming and video capture program available for multiple platforms. It's the one used by some youtubers, teachers or those who live stream on Twitch.

A very complete and completely free professional software, with a version compatible with Linux as you already know.

This amazing program can be used to make video tutorials and share them on YouTube Live, Twitch TV, DailyMotion and etc. With it you can capture the entire desktop or just a window, import video from a capture card and add images or text.

Now, OBS Project has released OBS Studio 27.2.1 as the first point release of the latest OBS Studio 27.2 series.

What's New in OBS Studio 27.2.1

Coming just a week after the release of OBS Studio 27.2, the point release of OBS Studio 27.2.1 is here to address some issues reported by users of the previous version, as well as to improve some of the existing functionality in an attempt to make the software more stable. and reliable during recording and streaming.
Specific to Linux users, OBS Studio version 27.2.1 correctly improves camera support, addresses an issue where some cameras did not decode on GNU/Linux systems and plugs a memory leak in the new PipeWire capture feature.

It also adds a “legendary” workaround to fix some kind of driver/kernel bug that caused browser font to trigger a full system freeze for some NVIDIA GPU users, improves performance of updated Chromium version of the font browser and updates AOM /SVT for new upstream features.

Other than that, it fixes an issue that broke some common keyboard shortcuts (eg Ctrl-F to fit a font to the screen), fixes SRT and RIST from crashing the app when the URL is not defined or when a media source is disabled with a RIST URL and fixes an issue that broke the resize handle when dragged to the top in the filter window.

Among other notable changes included in the OBS Studio 27.2.1 point release, hiding the app from capture is now logged and some other bugs specific to macOS and Windows users have been resolved.
