Here we are with the big kahuna of the demo... sort of
Monarch is a returning boss from Octopath Traveler 1 (and also a secret boss in its demo) but it's a lot stronger here with 3 phases. Monarch will only take around 100-150 damage from poison in this game as opposed to 1000 so keep that in mind. I don't know how much HP monarch has but if I had to guess I'd say around 9000 similar to the previous game.

Phase 1 is similar to the octopath 1 fight where it will primarily use wind attacks and some bad statuses.
Phase 2 it summons in monsters to assist it and has some debuffing attacks.
Phase 3 begins with it paralyzing your party for a turn then using a skill to give it multiple turns. It can murder you with dual wind if it gets a chance.

Reccomended party members:
Top Tiers:
Ochette: can have any moveset you wish
Throne: she has both daggers and dark magic which will hit for weaknesses. You can potentially bypass it's force evasion skill entirely
Hikari: spears hit for a weakness and he has the highest damage output

High Tiers
Agnea: has good buffs + the dagger is a weakness of monarch and you can bring other NPCS along to for more options and improved dances
Pertitio: Spears, Bows, and hired help make for an amazing amount of options plus optional bosses give tons of money via collect.
Castii: I'm recommending here only if she's unlocked Hale n Hearty because 1000 HP means she can survive anything Monarch throws at her... but her damage output will be lacking as she has no real way to hit weaknesses. Keep her on support


Ok Tier
Temenos: He's not the bulkiest out there but he has party healing and that's very respectable. Just make sure you gear him up well or he'll die fast.

Don't even bother:
Osvald: He only has staff weapons which do jack all to monarch and the only elemental weakness Monarch has is darkness, something Osvald is sorely lacking. He is practically useless against this boss.

I was able to find another hidden dungeon called lair of the usurper but couldn't find any optional boss fights in there. This will probably be the last octopath 2 video until the full release unless I can find the other hidden bosses. But hey this demo is amazing and I recommend you give it a try
