This is the first instance of trying to show off the officially licensed Octopath Traveler Tabletop RPG (dubbed OTRPG in the rulebook). This book has not been officially translated into English, but I took the time to translate the book so we can play it. Others who are interested have assisted me in taking the free PDFs and applying English where necessary to understand the game, but since most of it is talking, it's always simple to play no matter where you're from!
OTRPG is a simple TTRPG, using a 2d6 system. It attempts to play like a JRPG, and seems to work out fairly well in that regard, borrowing gameplay from the early Final Fantasy games, including Key Words and the Front Row and Back Row, which handles more like Final Fantasy 2 than most other games of that variety. It makes for an incredibly easy entry point for TTRPGs, and can be fun for both veterans and brand new Tabletop players.
OTRPG was produced by Square Enix, but the main developers of the system is F.E.A.R, a Japanese TTRPG gaming company. OTRPG borrows from their system a little. For instance, every character starts at level 2, and it allows for cross-classing from the beginning, as well as the aforementioned 2d6 system.
Once again, it is currently only available in Japanese, but I have set up a small Discord for those interested in purchasing the book and getting access to my translations. I'm looking forward to seeing you there!
